Baldwin County

With a population of over 140,000 residents, Baldwin County embodies some of the best standards of living found anywhere. Currently, the unemployment rate for the county remains below three percent, and the average median household income is approximately $41,909.

Ethnically, Baldwin County is very proud of its rich cultural background, with each individual community celebrating its own cultural heritage. Among the many ethnic groups who call Baldwin County home are families of German, Swedish, French, Canadian, Hungarian and Italian descent.

During the past fifteen years, Baldwin County has experienced a tremendous increase in its population, due in large part to the number of military retirees and their dependents who, for the low tax rate and its proximity to the Pensacola Naval Air Station, have chosen the southeastern part of the county as their home. To cope with this tremendous increase, all of the high schools constructed within the past five years have been equipped with the most modern and up-to-date technology and educational programs. Additionally, plans are already underway for the construction of a new high school to be located in the central part of the county near Interstate 10.
